Create at the Speed of Thought¶
Everything is moving faster now. Everyone is shipping. We're entering the golden age of digital media, and TouchDesigner is positioned to become one of the leading platforms of content creation. Embody exists to help our community build faster and better than ever — open source, no strings attached, nothing SaaSy.
The gap between what you imagine and what's on the screen is where almost every interesting creative experiment dies. Not because the artist gave up, but because the cost of trying it was higher than the cost of moving on. Embody exists to collapse that gap.
The first move is forward velocity. Envoy is an MCP server that lets your AI assistant build inside your live TouchDesigner session. Say what you want — "give me a noise-driven particle system that reacts to audio" — and watch the operators appear, wired up, named, annotated, laid out. Not a screenshot of a network. Not a code snippet to paste. The actual network, in front of you, ready to play with. Idea to first version in seconds.
But forward velocity by itself is a trap. Generative tools that only go forward are tools that lock you in. You ask the model for a thing, you get a thing, and now you're stuck with a thing — because the cost of trying a different approach is starting over. That's not flow. That's a fancier kind of friction.
So the second move is lateral velocity. Embody externalizes every operator to files on disk. Branch off the version that's almost right. Restore yesterday's state on the next project open. See exactly what changed from a week ago. Hand the agent a snapshot of what's currently on the screen and ask it to riff. Every direction you'd want to move costs about as much as deciding to move there.
Both of these depend on a quiet third thing: a format the network can live in as text. A .toe file is a black box — your AI agent can't see inside it, your diff tool can't read it, your filesystem can't store one version of it next to another. TDN is what lets the network exist as something the agent and the artist can both work on. Without it, none of the rest of this is possible. With it, every step of the loop — generate, compare, revert, branch — runs at the speed of typing.
What this adds up to is a single promise: the tool keeps up with you, instead of the other way around. The forty-minute translation tax goes away. You stay in the room with the idea. The network is the conversation, not the homework after the conversation.
That's what speed of thought looks like. It's not "the AI did it for you." It's "you didn't have to slow down."
Embody is open source, runs entirely inside TouchDesigner, and works with Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, or any MCP-compatible client. Try it on a real idea you've been putting off. See how far you get in an hour.
